Welcome to our family!

Greetings, I am Bob McIntosh, President of this wonderful nonprofit organization. Over the past few decades, American military families have changed. Many women and men are leading their military units and their families. Unique to the military is the training of these family leaders to kill. The traits that make a good combat leader is hard to give up. Many will hold on to them not wanting to seem weak, squeamish or want to lessen their aggressiveness that held them in a leadership role. Such conditioning can be devastating for the later family functioning requirements.

Once home, a condition such as PTSD or a state of intoxication can trigger violence. In 2008, the US Army recorded 140 suicides within its ranks. We must all work to halt this growing trend. How do we do this? First, by working with State Veteran organizations. John Lee and I talk almost monthly on how to do this work in Washington State. Families are harmed or supported by government (local and federal) policies that deny rights or do not empower the family to become stable.

Kurt Lewin, Professor at MIT, stated, "There is nothing as practical as good theory." Our theory for quality family development is based within social relationships and implementation of social enterprise. Yes, we need grants and donations but we assure our future by the design of profitable projects that do good in the community generating a profit for our family programs.

Please call, write, donate or design a project. Take the time to look at the different ways you can help veterans, if not with us, look within your community. Thanks for all of your help and deeds.
